Apocalypses Today: Cover of Reactor on “Fukushima" Has Been Tore Apart Long Ago
29.03.2011
Level of radioactive iodine in water round the second reactor of the Japanese atomic power station "Fukushima-1" exceeds admissible norm in 10 million times, Kyodo informs referring to Tokyo electric company. As news agency RIA Novosti informs referring to Reuters, works on the second reactor are suspended, employees of the station are being evacuated. Besides, excess of radiation norm in 1850 times (earlier there was information about excess in 1250 times) was fixed in sea water near to emergency station - it's approximately one thousand times higher, than the norm. Measurements of radiation field were carried out on distance of 300 meters from the coast. Radiation level in water in one of the reactor premises is raised almost 10 thousand times. Representatives of the operator of the emergency atomic power station - Tokyo Electric Power Company - believe that damage of the cover of active zone of the reactor can be the reason of high level of radiation (we told about it already a week ago - a comment from editor-in-chief). Singapore, Hong Kong and other Asian importers have already entered interdiction for import of vegetables, seafood and dairy production from prefectures Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tositi and Ganma. Russia, the United States, European Union and Australia have resorted to the same measure. The Singapore agency on control over quality of products specifies that small level of infection is found out in the Japanese mustard, parsley and two types of vegetables imported from several Japanese prefectures. The day before radioactive substances from "Fukushima-1" were found out in northeast Chinese province Heilongjiang adjoining to Russia. Original cause - natural cataclysm - faded into background against nuclear catastrophe. Meanwhile the death toll as a result of earthquake and tsunami which followed reached 10 thousand people. More than 17 thousand 440 people are considered missing. Under approximate data, nearby 250 thousand people live in time camps. Shortage of foodstuff, water and fuel is felt in the suffered areas. From editorial board: As nobody can precisely tell what's going on inside the damaged Japanese reactors, experts agree in opinion that next several days should show - whether situation will diminish or catastrophe will get aggravated. So, the second scenario of events, apparently, develops. The reactor cover is broken through and radioactive contamination of Japan turns to "non-stop" without time limit.
The question is already - whether Japan is capable to solve independently the problem or efforts of all international community are necessary. Apparently, the second is true again.
For long time, practically all critical period the Japanese government has been hidden true scales of disaster and today catastrophe infringes interests of already neighbouring and not only neighbouring powers. The most important thing - there's still a sensation that either the Japanese part doesn't possess all completeness of a picture of disaster, or it continues to hide some important details.
For example, check of two Japanese tourists who arrived to China from Tokyo revealed higher level of radiation on their clothes and luggage, they were directed to hospital. While it is not clear how contamination could occur as tourists, under the data, weren't present in radius of 240 km from the suffered atomic power station.
Whence defeat source? Whether it means that information on possible distribution of radiation was insufficient? I remember very well, how during Chernobyl catastrophe people with children, having seized what was at hand, left dangerous zone, going in all directions, carrying on infected clothes, things, being sometimes radiation source themselves. Being then young expert I was compelled to evacuate those people - KGB sent orientations about necessity to go there, to take urgently away victims, things, to carry out disinfection and to deliver people to medical institution. Then it was ordered to forget the address. Sometimes doses were rather considerable, as to contamination source... There were rains in Moscow region, very far from Pripyat which made dosimeter click as mad - after such rain I took a shower and changed clothes but millions citizens knew nothing about it in general. We simply knew nothing, it was forbidden to know. Though there were conversations about simultaneous emission in Obninsk, about something else. It seems that something similar happens now in Japan. Nobody knows nothing precisely, information is being filtered and dosed out, as a result people who should take measures can't act adequately because of a lack of trustworthy information. Now it's already question about sovereignty and its borders. Japan is sovereign country and formally can do in its territory what it wishes. Well, what about if it wishes to poison half of World Ocean with emissions from its atomic power stations? To dirty all its rather small territory with radioactive isotopes to such extend that all country becomes one continuous "Chernobyl zone"? Yes, Japanese are rational and civilized people, they won't start doing mad things purposely - but whether we can guarantee logic and rationality of their governments? The matter is, certainly, not only in Japan - whether we can guarantee rationality of own government? The governments of Iran or Estonia, the United States or Democratic People's Republic of Korea? All state structures are heavy with clusters of state secrets which often hide high treasons. Whether mankind in 21st century, in epoch of super difficult and only owing to it super dangerous technologies relies only and exclusively on good will of sirs Kahn and Sarkozy, Putin and Medvedev, Berlusconi and Obama? Sirs who often do not realize much simpler things, than the problem of nuclear safety. Let's say, volume and character of actions for accident liquidation on "Fukushima" are defined only and exclusively by the Japanese party. Why? If it concerns only and exclusively Tokyo? The question of control over nuclear power became international long time ago but for some reason it concerns only underdeveloped countries, while "developed" countries have possibility to evade from such control or even simply to ignore it. By what right? Unless 250 thousand Japanese who suffer shortage of food in camps for refugees would be against reception of superfluous can of surely not radioactive stewed meat from Russian "invaders"? Whether they would be against time placing in the Chinese or Korean territory? Whether presence of the Russian experts with experience of liquidation of failure on Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on the Japanese atomic power stations would strongly disturb them? Instead the Japanese government struggles for Kuriles and can't renounce its sovereignty. Japan is great country and will cope alone, no matter what it will cost to simple Japanese and all around them. Meanwhile neighbouring peoples will sit as simple spectators in theater on which stage they can see scene of their own death. Аnatoly Baranov Читайте также:
