Yushchenko Accused Soviet Authority of Genocide of the Ukrainians

Yesterday the president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko during working trip to Ivano-Frankovsk region opened Museum of Victims of Communistic Reprisals in "Demjanov Laz". As UNIAN transfers, the head of the state examined its exhibits: personal things of the victims, documents, archival materials. Among expositions there are even skulls with several apertures from bullets and other finds which "show all cruelty of communistic mode".

There are in the museum pictures which display history of executions in "Demjanov Laz". Uniqueness of museum is that except surnames of the shot there is a full list of employees of People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs which tortured and shot prisoners of Stanislavsky prison.

Not only surnames of employees of People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs but also members of the military court of the 12th army involved in those crimes are established on the basis of the documents found.

According to V.Yushchenko, "we should not only remember our heroes but also know the names of executioners and traitors". "The unique thing in the museum is that not only the names of the shot became known but also 377 names of executioners", - the head of the state said. "It's always necessary to remember the names of the traitors", - he underlined.

Heads of Ivano-Frankovsk region and chairman of Security Service of Ukraine Valentine Nalivajchenko also took part in museum opening together with the president

"We gathered today in a place of indescribable grief, a tragical and at the same time sacred place. Here, in "Demjanov Laz", Stalin mechanism of terror committed an awful crime against Ukraine and against mankind. I want that each of us realized immensity of the grief buried in this earth. Five communal graves. Hundreds of killed people. Priests, teachers, students, intellectuals and common people whose only fault was that they were Ukrainians", - the president said.

According to V.Yushchenko, now, when we know the truth, we can know, who can accuse now heroes of the rebel army resistance, soldiers of the Ukrainian Rebel Army that in desperate and almost hopeless struggle they protected children, families, nation".

Yushchenko also reminded that in many cities and villages of Ukraine till now there are "idols of communistic leaders - those who despised, shot, hated our people, those who doomed them to death in different years... Millions and millions Ukrainians".

From editorial board: It's possible to pass ritual damnations of president Yushchenko in the address of "communistic mode" off, however there are in his keynote speech some nuances which cannot be avoided.

Yushchenko repeatedly asserts that terror was carried out exclusively against the Ukrainian nation:

"Hundreds of killed people. Priests, teachers, students, intellectuals and the usual people whose only fault was that they were Ukrainians"; "Idols of communistic leaders - those who despised, shot, hated our people, those who doomed them to death in different years... Millions and millions of Ukrainians".

That is it turns out that "damned communists", against whom Yushchenko does not mince words, in spite of the fact that the Communist Party of Ukraine is a parliamentary party in his country, carried out conscious genocide against Ukrainians? Probably, "communists" are in no way Ukrainians, including the heads of the Communist Party of Ukraine of that period?

However, Yushchenko speaks about some "traitors" - probably, Ukrainians battling in the ranks of the Red and then Soviet Army, especially in the units of People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs (for example, soldiers of the regiment of People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs defending Balaklava to the last) were as he said. Unlike "heroes of the Ukrainian Rebel Army"...

It's no mere chance that there was present the head of Security Service of Ukraine who "has already become famous" for falsifications of "horrors of communistic mode", exhibition in Sevastopol devoted to Holodomor where photos of the pre-revolutionary period and times of Great depression in the USA were presented being played off as pictures of hunger in Ukraine was the most appreciable. Probably, sooner or later "conscious" will come to the thought of "clearing off" of Ukraine not only from monuments of the Soviet epoch but also from descendants of "executioners and traitors" - that is from all who does not agree with those treatments of history which gradually become official in Ukraine. The legislative initiative about inclusion of the clause for negation of Holodomor into the criminal code is only first sign.

Inherently, Yushchenko and his political sympathizers intend to use numerous tragedies of the XX-th century for solving of especially utilitarian questions - emancipation from Russia, transfer of "Muscovites" into the category of citizens of the second grade under the Baltic scenario and so on.

At that it's senseless to ask questions. Common sense is absent.

For example, why the basic part of evidences of executions and brutalities in Demjanov Laz is based on... the German sources? Thus it is known that little more than 500 shot is being attributed to brutalities of People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs and already soon after the capture of Stanislav Gestapo carried out mass arrests of representatives of the Polish intelligency there - 800 of Polish intellectuals were put to death on August, 20^th, 1941 in Black wood under the city. On July, 26th, 1942 in the same place Franciscan monks were put to death for concealment of Jews: the general of the Franciscan order padre Jan Peregrin Hachela, brother Stefan Kosiorky and padre Remigish Vojtsik. In 1941 there was created the Jewish ghetto which prisoners were in 1943 sent to death camp Belzets.

Besides, let's ask a question why to 524 shot and tortured by People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs there are 377 "executioners" whose names are known? Whether it means that all staff of military men of the 12th army billeted in that place is written down as "executioners"?

Further, it's said in the Ukrainian sources about brutalities and summary executions though after 1937 People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs observed all necessary legal procedures. It is said about tortures and murders of babies. However it is known that Hitlerites executed during war years killed more than 100 thousand persons in Ivano-Frankovsk region, at that executions and reprisals began right after the beginning of occupation. It is also known that the German were the first to declare "brutalities of Bolsheviks". Whether someone checked participation in executions of Germans, not People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs?

Regional "Memorial" began excavation on 21.09.1989 on the basis of evidences of witnesses, it operated obviously with certain ideological aim - it searched for victims of Stalin reprisals, that what it found. One shouldn't even call to mind correct forensic medical examination. For example, 432 skulls had fire apertures, some of them from 2 to 6, basically in the nape - first of all it is possible to think of Gestapo's "manner". But - it was decided that it's People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. However, examination in Katyn confirmed that all 22 thousand Poles were shot from the German weapon that didn't affect in any way charges in the address of People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs and personally Stalin.

Let's even assume that People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs following some reasons shot 524 people in Stanislav. What does it mean in comparison with 100 thousand victims who died from hands of Hitlerites? And why 524 people mean genocide, while 100 thousand - not?

Where are the proofs, that, according to president Yushchenko, their only fault was their Ukrainian nationality? Where are in general the proofs that all 524 of shot were ethnic Ukrainians, not Jews or Poles?

Babies confuse especially - well, People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs didn't shoot children! There were asylums and orphanages, that were very unattractive institutions but according to Stalin's instructions "the son does not answer for his father", there were no reprisals in relation to children. Especially to the babies.

We do not know till now, what were the reasons those people stayed in Stanislavsky prison. Explanations that "for nothing" and "because they were Ukrainians" do not cause trust. How many thieves-recidivists, murderers, representatives of the Polish special services and other dangerous elements from the point of view of the Soviet authority were among them?

We do not know and won't know, as all process is in hands of Security Service of Ukraine and president Yushchenko. They have certain ideological tasks to which any result is adjusted...
